We took the remote option for the day which means we got to see huge farming combines in action, chewing up the dried corn fields and spitting out yellow rivers of corn into trucks. Lots of farmland with red soil and almost no people.
There are abandoned cave homes all around here and we found one in the middle of nowhere with open windows, so we went down in it and explored. See pics. These homes are apparently were quite economical because the temperature stayed pretty much constant and the outside didn't need upkeep. Hobbit houses!
Wow, we made a giant chicken soup tonight at the albergue and ate every last drop. We were craving protein!
Visited a wonderful tienda on the camino in a tiny hamlet called Villavante. The mom and daughter who ran it were so friendly and helpful and they had travel sizes in everything including vinegar, shampoo, olives, cookies, jelly, etc. We've had such great chats with shop owners. Scott's Spanish has made great strides this trip and he always dives right in. Ha, we were given free candies again :)
Another short posting but hopefully the pics will tell the story. The Russian dudes tired me out :)
