Wrapping up the Season

 This year, instead of Adelies, there have been Emperors molting along the Pegasus Road.

 Scott took these pics with a telephoto - we are not allowed to alter animals' behavior by getting too close.

 Ah, I'm ready for the season to be done!

Goofball! There was a Fleet Ops expo and we got to check out the big machinery. In years past, people were allowed to drive these jobbies. I correctly guessed this old grader was from 1973.

This crane had like 150 feet of boom. Cool!

We are no longer allowed to name machines, lest it be sexist. We have a hundred foot beast of a shuttle vehicle coming off the container ship right now, and it doesn't have a name. It will though...it's inevitable.

The airfield, where Jen spends a lot of time of working. Scott took a number of flights this year in the twin otters and the baslers.

We have one week left. Elizabeth leaves on the 23rd. We'll spend a week in Christchurch, a week in the hills outside of Kaikoura, then two weeks up in Motueka. We arrive in Missoula on March 14th - in enough time to get a few days of skiing in. We'll be posting some pics of our travels in New Zealand, and maybe some thoughts on another season in Antarctica. Whew, we all worked very hard this season!
